A bus was provided for us by the city councilor Steven Levin and Congressman Vito Lopez and could only accommodate 50 people. 50 seniors have signed up for the trip to the woods and the park beaches, however the extremely hot day (temperature exceed over 100F) lowered the number of the participants to 40.
The Sunkist Meadow Park is located under hundreds of huge trees so that the whole is shaded. In addition, a gentle breeze blew from the nearby ocean so that the temperature stayed below 90 F.
Lunch (beef steak) and dinner (chicken) were provided by the promoters. The seniors from "Krakus" happily spent the time, singing to the sounds of the accordion. Thanks to Mr. Waclaw Wojcik and our choir we were described by Steve Levin who visited us, as "the most musical and singing senior center in the Park".
Several courageous seniors dared to swim in the cool ocean waves. As every year in this competition the best was a former sailor Józef Szala.
All of us were glad to come back to "Krakus" before 7:00 PM.
It was a wonderful day! Wojciech Mleczko Program Director
